Texas Lottery officials have launched a new campaign for the holiday season that is raising some eyebrows.
The "gift responsibly, play responsibly" campaign urges lottery players to not give tickets as gifts to minors. Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery, told KHOU that the lottery commission discourages underage play to prevent gambling addiction and high-risk behavior.

But to some lottery players, buying tickets as gifts for the young and old alike is a family tradition during the holiday season, KHOU reported. They said while they appreciated the lottery's message of responsibility, their families will likely continue their holiday tradition.
