ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. - St. Johns County deputies are looking for a man who fired a shot at a taxi driver.

The shooting happened after the man reportedly chased three men in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 700 West Pope Street.

In offense reports Action News Jax obtained, the cab driver told the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office he woke up to find one of the men peering a flashlight into his cab.

When the cab driver confronted the man, he was joined by three other men.

One of those men fired shots in the cab driver’s direction.

Action News Jax obtained four more reports with at least eight car burglaries in the same time frame at the complex.

We went to the complex and spoke to neighbors who say they did not expect this.

“I’ve never heard of any crime around here leading up to the three years I’ve lived here leading up to the other night,” Sammy Lanier said.

Most of the burglaries were to cars that were unlocked. Firearms, tasers, and school books were among the items taken.
