ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - Neighbors near World Golf Village say they want to know who is firing shots, leaving bullet holes near a home.

“Several rounds of gunfire,” Courtney Dowd said.

“It sounds like I am at a shooting range,” Heather Sanzari said.

It’s a sound neighbors have been concerned about for months.

“Right now it’s constant,” Sanzari said.

A bullet went through Dowd’s fence, where her 2-year-old son and dog play.

“If somebody would’ve been out here, they could’ve killed someone,” Dowd said.

“To have an 11-year-old autistic son who won’t go outside; he’s petrified to even go out back,” Sanzari said.

There are at least six reports of gunfire in the last month. Neighbors say shots are not only being fired during the day, but also at night.

“I don’t understand why somebody's shooting a gun when they can’t see,” Sanzari said.

Back in August, deputies say a man was killed in his home by a long-distance shot on State Road 16. They believe the shooting was accidental.

Deputies say they are looking into the recent reports of gunfire, but call it a “difficult process.” They say it’s hard to find out where the bullets are coming from, because half of the area is wooded.

“We are just asking please be careful with what you’re doing, and don’t do it facing our neighborhood,” Sanzari said.
