POWDER SPRINGS, Ga, - It was a moment that a Camden County woman says brought her to tears.
An emotional Tiffany Lyford said she had "no words" after the Camden County High School Wildcats were presented a $3,600 check for hurricane relief by the opposing team in Saturday night's football game.
The Camden County Wildcats had traveled about five hours to the Atlanta area to play McEachern High School.
At the start of the game, McEachern announced its boosters had raised the cash and also had gift cards to donate.
"The devastation that hit our county is mainly known only within our area," Lyford posted on Facebook. "We didn't make the big news stations but countless people in our area have lost everything thanks to Irma."
Many other Camden parents expressed their gratitude.
"Best thing I have EVER witnessed in 5 yrs of Camden County Football," said Tina Lyn Green Lacasse.
McEachern ended up winning the game 38-13.
Afterwards, both teams met at midfield to pray together.
